The Flamboyant Tree is a familiar sight throughout the Tropics. Native to Madagascar, the Flamboyant (Delonix regia) reached Sri Lanka centuries ago, through the ancient Indian Ocean trade routes. The magnificent, vibrant flame-red blossom, which in season covers almost the entire tree, and the pleasingly soft, delicate leaves provided the inspiration for our unique boutique hotel: tropical, fresh and stylish.

We were delighted when we visited this lovely estate set in rolling countryside. The setting is special. It has a great pool and the recently completed accommodation is high quality with interesting individual designs. Lunch was excellent and we had a very warm welcome from the owners, Simon and Pauline.

Just had stunning Lunch with the wonderful owners Simon and Pauline. Home made hummus and flat bread starter. Grilled citrusy Para fish fresh from Trincomalee as mains: the lemon flavouring was divine and again taken from the beautiful Estate. Followed by perfect fruity caramel pudding and excellent coffee. Next time I’ll be back to stay, as the Villas look amazing and the estate great for nature tour and discovery with Simon who’s knowledge is incredible.

An excellent eco-retreat in the heart of Sri Lanka, in the middle of a forest with spectacular views. First rate modern and stylish with lots of natural light. Amazing birdlife.
